Privacy
Last updated 2026-10-15. Plain statements about what actually happens to your files.
Your images never leave your device
DigImg has no backend. There is no upload endpoint, no storage bucket and no queue worker. Decoding, resampling and encoding all execute as WebAssembly inside your browser tab, using squoosh codecs. You can confirm this yourself: open DevTools → Network before compressing anything, and you will see no request that carries image data — only the page and its own assets.
We do not collect analytics or serve advertising here
At launch this site includes no analytics script, no advertising tag and no third-party tracker. If that changes, this page is where it will be stated first, and the change will be visible in the Network panel.
The one thing stored on your device
The light/dark theme choice is saved in your browser's localStorage under the key
dd-theme. Nothing else is persisted. There are no cookies set by this site.
What processing does change about your file
- Metadata is dropped. Output contains no EXIF, no colour profile and no GPS location, because the image is decoded to pixels and re-encoded. Verified in the build's own test suite rather than assumed.
- Lossy formats discard detail. Choosing AVIF, WebP or JPEG trades some image fidelity for file size. PNG and oxipng are lossless — every pixel is preserved.
- Animation is flattened. An animated GIF or WebP is reduced to its first frame.
Hosting
Static files are served by Cloudflare Pages from the digdevbox.com family. Standard
host-level request logging applies to any hosted website; those logs are about HTTP requests, not
about your images, which never reach the server in the first place.
